How: Chlorophytum borivilianum acts by decreasing inflammation markers, reducing the effects of stress, and increasing growth hormone secretion, especially in tandem with mucuna pruriens. Also, chlorophytum borivilianum increases libido.

GABA

Class: Sleep Aid
Synonyms: Gamma Aminobutyric Acid, 4-aminobutanoic acid
What: A natural anxiolytic, sleep aid, relaxation agent and growth hormone secretatogue,
How: GABA is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter that acts by blocking some synapses and reducing excitability. GABA improves deep sleep, and facilitates increases in HGH secretion and IGF-1 production in the body. Due to this GABA improves fat loss, muscle building and recovery.

  

Centella Asiatica

Class: Nootropic, anti-inflammation.
Synonyms: Gotu kola, Indian Pennywort, Jal Brahmi, Brahmi, Tsubokusa, and Mandookaparni.
What: A cognition enhancing agent, and anxiety reducer.
How: Centella asiatica is similar in many regards to bacopa monnieri, but has additional benefits for cardiovascular health, wound healing, and skin regeneration rates. This is likely due to activation of proteins called MAPKs, which induce a release in Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor. Anti-inflammatory signaling molecules from immune cells are released with administration of centella asiatica. Centella asiatica also inhibits the breakdown of collagen, while increasing its rate of synthesis.

  

Glycyrrhiza Glabra

Synonyms: Licorice Root
What: A support for adrenals, and inflammation.
How: Glycyrria glabra acts by reducing the breakdown of cortisol circulating in the body. This allows the body to rebound from stress more easily by not having to create as much cortisol.

 

Catharanthus roseus

Class: Nootropic, and nutrient partitioner.
Synonyms: Madagascar Periwinkle
What: A nootropic, oxygen transporter, and nutrient partitioner.
How: Vincamine, present in catharantus roseus, improces the blood supply to the brain to improve oxygen and glucose transport to the brain. The mechanism underlying this is due to vasodilation, and memory enhancing actions. Other alkaloids, such as vinculin, have been shown to have hypoglycemic activity. Withania Somnifera

Class: Adaptogen
Synonyms: Ashwagandha, Indian ginseng, poison gooseberry, winter cherry.
What: potent adaptogenic herb, which supports protein synthesis and regulation of hormones.
How: Constituents of withania somnifera (specifically, withaferin A and withanolide D) reduce cortisol, and increase testosterone by blocking cortisol’s effects, and reducing the excess of cortisol in the presence of stress. Withania somniferaalso has been demonstrated to change the configuration of neuron receptors, which would work well to enable the GABA molecules to more easily bind to the receptor. This is the mode through which stress is reduced, and the amplitude of a growth hormone spike can be increased in response to GABA or Phenibut.
